I think we all say “we’re gonna come back here” when on vacation. But oftentimes I don’t, it’s just the feel of the moment. Until this amazing place. I will be returning, probably frequently. I can’t find the words to express how many hugs my heart and soul received here. The Owl Barn is breathtakingly beautiful and incredibly comfortable. The nature and peace that surrounds it brings you to a tranquil state. The kindness and generosity from Lauren is not something I’ve experienced from Airbnb hosts before. Thank you for providing this space and hospitality for one of the most fulfilling vacations we’ve ever had.

The Hooting Owl Homestead is a delight. The kids loved the animals, trails, and play area. The Barn Owl was a beautifully done conversion from an old tobacco barn to a cozy home. It thoughtfully included amenities to make it feel like a vacation home, and it was perfectly located for many popular Red River Gorge hiking locations. The host takes hospitality to a new level and is very welcoming.

Lauren and her place are AMAZING!!! (Inside and out.). Yes, the building and rooms are well furnished , immaculate, and better than described, but what stands out most here at the Hooting Owl Homestead is the loving spirit used to develop and manage the place. There’s an easy going balance of attentive peacefulness with hard work.Lauren knows that fine line of being there and paying attention to the guest without ever being noticed. AND if you do need or want something Lauren is right there with never a grumble. Trust me we had our shareof asks, none of it related to Lauren or her place.Her family (animal and human) are just as lovely. If you stay here it will become YOUR blessing. You don’t have to interact with the animals but I’d encourage you to, you might find out that cows have really long tongues and goats horns are made perfectly for playfully butting each other in a gentle way.The trails are great, complete with a waterfall. Lots to do both on site and around. Book it now!

This adorable homestead property proved to be just the peaceful oasis we were hoping for. The renovated barn was even more impressive in person, with every detail very well thought out & meticulously clean. Expect to be greeted by at least 2-3 friendly fluffy white farm dogs. Start the day out right by paying a visit to the rest of the animals on the pasture & hitting up the cute farm shop. Would absolutely stay here again!

The Hooting Owl Homestead was a beautiful place. We have 2 daughters ( 10 and 7) and it was our first trip to Kentucky. It was spring break and being from Iowa we know the weather can being very unpredictable during March. We had plans to do a lot of hiking and since it was snowing we spent a lot of time at the Hooting Owl instead. Our girls were so contempt at the Hooting Owl I don't think they even wanted to leave anyway! We enjoyed listening to records, eating Miguel's Pizza, and soaking in the hot tub. Every room in the barn was decorated perfectly and the large windows provided amazing views, especially with the large snow flakes falling from the sky. The farm animals were a delight to visit and Pantsy Mae, the donkey, was a family favorite. We also got visits from all the dogs, which were also so sweet. Lauren was a wonderful host. She was quick to respond and helpful providing ideas to fill our time. We can't wait to visit again! Thank you Lauren!

I have stayed in many places all across the United States and none are in any comparison to Lauren’s cabin and property. Her attention to detail and the love she has put in to this vision she has created is something to experience. My fiancée and I had the best weekend, we will definitely be back very soon. Thank you Lauren for everything!

This place was absolutely amazing! The space was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed. Lauren was friendly, responsive, and made the entire stay easy and stress-free. 5 stars all around, highly recommend!

It was so wonderful it is hard to describe. We couldn’t get over we were staying in what used to be a barn. We have stayed at several Airbnb’s and this gave us everything we wanted. We will be back

This weekend was pure bliss! The Barn Owl was so cute and clean! The farm fresh eggs, honey, and coffee were such a sweet surprise. Lauren and Derek were amazing hosts. We got engaged on this trip and Lauren stepped up and photographed for us to capture the memories. We can’t recommend them or their properties enough!
