Welcome to Hooting Owl Homestead, a family-run Homestead rooted in the heart of the Red River Gorge region near Campton, Kentucky.
This is our first year establishing a diverse planting of organic fruiting shrubs, trees, and native perennials. While most plants are just getting started, we’re excited to offer a small first-year harvest of berries — and even bigger things to come in the seasons ahead.

You’ll be able to enjoy our fruit in three different ways this season:
- 🧺 Farmstand – By Appointment Only
Stop by for the freshest hand-picked berries and seasonal goods. Book a quiet, personalized visit on our website. We also offer our pasture raised meats and other produce. - 🌄 Red River Gorge Farmers Market
Find us at the RRG Farmers Market from May through October season with fresh fruit, plus hard to find meats like duck, pheasant and rabbit! - 👩🌾 U-Pick Field Experiences
Come pick your own strawberries, raspberries, or currants! A great outdoor experience for families, hikers, and homestead fans.

Some of our plants will produce lightly this first season:
- Flavorfest Strawberries
- Earliglow Strawberries
- Prelude & Heritage Red Raspberries
- Gooseberries (Captivator, Invicta, Hinnomaki Red)
- Red and Black Currants
- Immaculate & Jewel Black Raspberries (light fruiting possible)
- Honeyberries (light fruiting possible)
🧑🌾 We’re allowing a light first-year harvest on stronger plants like gooseberries, currants, and honeyberries — while focusing on long-term root health for larger berries shrubs and trees.

We’re building an abundant future with plants that will begin producing in 2026 and beyond:
- Elderberries (Bob Gordon, Wyldewood)
- Blackberries (Arapaho, Immaculate)
- Asian & Kieffer Pears
- Peaches & Plums
- Apple (Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, Granny Smith, and more)
- Goji Berries, Pawpaws, Chinese Chestnuts, Figs
All of these are part of our on-site arboretum, which doubles as a teaching garden for our nature-based classes.
